Study of Chinese Learners' Pedagogical Choices in Korean

This ability can aid researchers understand the role of prosody in communication across different cultural contexts, a major challenge in cross-cultural pragmatics.

The results of the MQs, DCTs and z-tests were analysed using descriptive statistics and Z tests. The CLKs were discovered to use euphemistic words like "sorry" or "thank you". This could be due to their lack experience with the target languages, leading to an insufficient knowledge of korean's pragmatic norms. The results revealed that CLKs' preferences to diverge from L1 and 2 norms or to be more convergent toward L1 differed based on the DCT situations. The RIs were recorded and transcribed by two independent coders and then coded. The coding was an iterative process in which the coders listened and discussed each transcript. The results of coding were evaluated against the original RI transcripts, which provided an indication of how the RIs were able to capture the fundamental behavior.

They did this despite the fact that they were able to produce patterns that were similar to native speakers. They were also aware of their pragmatic resistance. These findings suggest that native speakers' pragmatic norms are not the default preference for Korean learners. They could still be a useful model for official Korean proficiency tests. However, it is prudent for future researchers to reassess their applicability in specific situations and in various cultural contexts. This will allow them to better understand the effects of different cultures on the pragmatic behavior and classroom interactions of students from L2. Furthermore this will allow educators to create more effective methods for teaching and testing the korea's pragmatics.
