After a string of social media posts that hinted at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. Space Key was developed in collaboration with a non-publicized artist and based upon advanced carbon fiber composite materials that were shipped to the International Space Station as research material, is a new project that has been announced by Lamborghini.

The latest project, dubbed the Space Key, is a piece created in collaboration with an unidentified artist. The one-of-a-kind NFT is a tangible object that has a link to exclusive digital artwork that can be accessed via a QR code on the back. The project is limited and will be auctioned off in the next few weeks.

The Space Key is made of carbon composite materials that Lamborghini as part of a research project in the year 2019, sent to the International Space Station. After returning to earth carbon fiber was fashioned into this unique art. The physical component is embossed with an NFT serial number which ties to the corresponding digital artwork via a QR code that is located on the back.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that happens seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of the five images was taken by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner used an inflatable camera with an lens to take individual images, which were then assembled into the final photograph. The result is a photograph that is completely out of the world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic look of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and location of the auction haven't yet been revealed yet.
